2. Characteristics of the 1 OZ Platinum Philharmonic coin:

Issued for many years, the 1 oz Platinum Philharmonic is one of Europe's best known bullion coins. The Philharmonic 2021 is issued in Austria.

It is minted in different formats. The platinum version contains 99.95% pure platinum and in the first year of production will only be available in a one-ounce size. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is the inspiration for the coin's design.

The Platinum Philharmonic has a face value of €100, and is the only regularly issued coin to be legal tender in euros. When the gold version of this coin was first minted, its face value was in Austrian shillings. This changed in 2002, and now all Philharmonic coins have a face value in euros.

OBVERSE :

The obverse of the coin features the great organ of the Musikverein Concert Hall, also known as the Golden Concert Hall. The obverse also shows the year of mintage, the purity and the legal tender of the coin. Both designs were created by Thomas Pesendorfer, a master engraver whose work has appeared on many coins, both in and out of circulation.

REVERSE :

The reverse of the platinum Philharmonic features several instruments, including a Vienna horn, bassoon, harp and four violins, all used by the Philharmonic. The words "WIENER PHILHARMONIKER" which translate to "Vienna Philharmonic" written in German also appear.
