The Royal Mint is one of Britain's oldest and most respected government institutions. It has a long history - over 1100 years by some estimates - and has produced many of the world's most famous coins.

Today, the Royal Mint is not only responsible for minting the coins used for circulation in the UK, but also produces official coins for more than 60 countries around the world. 

As such, the Royal Mint's Tudor Beasts series follows in the footsteps of the Queen's Beasts series, a collection available from 2016 to 2021. Rather than covering a wide range of the English monarch's history, the Tudor Beasts series focuses on the heraldic creatures used by the Tudor dynasty.

The Clarence Bull 1 ounce platinum coin is the third in the Royal Mint's Royal Tudor Beasts collection. Like the 'Queen's Beasts' series, the collection will include ten 'beasts', this time statues lining the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court.

In addition, David Lawrence has reproduced the mythical bull on the reverse of the coin, with an animated chainmail texture in the background for added security.

OBVERSE :

The obverse of the coin features, for the first time in the series, the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings.

REVERSE :

Designed by David Lawrence, the reverse of the coin depicts the Clarence Bull against a textured background resembling chain mail. This design not only attracts attention, but also reinforces the security features to prevent counterfeiting.
