Translation: "Publius Septimius Geta Pius Augustus Britannicus" or "Publius Septimius Geta, pious British Augustus".

Description: Laureate head of Geta on the right.


REVERSE :

Legend: PONTIF COS II

Translation: "Tribunicia Potestas tertius Consul secundus Pater Patriæ" or "Clothed with the third tribunitian power, consul for the second time, father of the fatherland".

Description: Felicitas or Ceres standing frontally, looking left, holding a flaming torch in her right hand and a globe in her left.


HISTORY :

Géta was born on 26 May 189 and was named Caesar by his father in 198, later being elevated to the title of Augustus in 199. Once Septimius Severus died, the two brothers, Caracalla and Géta, reigned for a year before Caracalla decided to kill Géta, who was then in his mother's arms. Géta was then condemned to damnatio memoriæ and his supporters were massacred.
