PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Australian Lunar series from the Perth Mint

First issued in 1995, the Perth Mint's Australian Lunar series commemorates the animals of the Chinese calendar (zodiac) with a series of 12 designs depicting the mouse, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig each year. These coins are made from 99.99% pure gold, 99.99% pure silver and 99.95% pure platinum.

Also, as the first international coin to celebrate the 12 animals of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar, this series of bullion coins has been highly prized and sought after by bullion coin buyers around the world since the first issue in 1995.

Each animal of the lunar zodiac is believed to confer its dominant characteristics on those born under its reign.

So, meticulously crafted from 1 Kilo of 99.99% pure silver, the Australian Lunar Rabbit celebrates the fourth animal of the lunar zodiac.

Characteristics of the Australian Lunar Hare 1 Ounce Silver

The fourth animal in the Chinese calendar after the mouse, ox and tiger, the hare confers intelligence, creativity, vigilance and compassion on people born under its influence in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011 and 2023.

In this respect, the Australian Lunar Rabbit 1 Kilo Silver coin depicts a vigilant hare with erect ears and another rabbit stretching towards a budding branch. The design includes the Chinese character for 'rabbit', the inscription 'RABBIT 2023' and the 'P' mintmark of the Perth Mint

This makes the coin a real favourite with collectors and fans of the Australian Lunar series created by the Perth Mint. It is also a perfect gift idea for those born under the sign of the hare.

OBVERSE :

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, as well as the coin's weight, purity and face value.

REVERSE :

The reverse of the coin depicts two small rabbits busy in the countryside. One is sitting, ears perked up, looking to his left. The other rabbit, next to him, is reaching out towards a branch to grab the fruit or buds. Rabbits are said to be intelligent, creative, curious and lively. This drawing perfectly illustrates these character traits. The Chinese character for the rabbit, the inscription 'RABBIT 2023' and the 'P' mintmark of the Perth Mint are also included in the design.
