Mexico released six different sizes of the gold 50 Pesos billion coins. The design information is only applicable to the largest of these coins, the 50 Pesos.

Mexican 50 Pesos gold coins are often referred to as Centenarios. Their first year of issue was 1921 to celebrate Mexico's 100th anniversary of independence in 1821. From 1949 - 1972, nearly four million coins were re-struck, most likely with the date 1947.

VARIABLE YEARS / EFFIGIES

The years and/or effigies of these coins are sent randomly depending on our stocks.

As these are bullion coins and not collector coins, their years or effigies have no impact on their value or resale price.

The front of the 50 pesos Gold symbolises the winged Vitory, that can be seen on the monument of the Indipendence Angel, on the background the legendary volcanoes Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl.

The obverse (front) features an eagle and snake design surrounded by the words 'ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS,' which translate to United Mexican States.
