The Seymour Unicorn 1 Ounce Gold is the fourth coin in the Royal Mint's Royal Tudor Beasts collection. This collection features the ten 'beast' statues that line the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court and represent the families of the King's line.

The Seymour unicorn is a symbol of purity and fertility, given by Henry VIII to Jane Seymour. With the body of a horse, the tail of a lion, the hooves and beard of a goat, and a spiral horn, it wears a royal crown and is decorated with daisies and roses, which distinguishes it from the Scottish unicorn. The Unicorn bears a six-quartered shield of the Seymour family and is fitted with a gold collar and chain, representing the taming of a wild creature.

Similarly, the Seymour 1 Ounce Unicorn gold coin contains exactly 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) of pure 999.9 gold. The coin will be in production for a few months until the next coin in the series is released. Collectors should therefore buy it as soon as possible in order to obtain all the coins in the series. 

In addition, the length of the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace is depicted on this coin, accompanied by ten majestic beasts carved in stone representing the union and royal ancestry of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. These guardians have inspired a new series of bullion coins, and the fourth piece in The Royal Tudor Beasts collection features the Seymour unicorn, inspired by the royal heritage.

Struck in 999.9 fine gold, the coin is also available in a 1/4oz gold edition, as well as in fine silver and platinum editions.

OBVERSE :

The obverse of the coin features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings.

REVERSE :

Designed by David Lawrence, the reverse of the coin depicts the unicorn of Jane Seymour's house, with an animated chainmail background texture providing additional security.
