Minted on an oval flan, with a superb portrait of Jupiter on the obverse. Nice reverse, slightly off-centre. Old collection patina.

Legend: DOSSEN
Translation: "Dossenus".
Description: Laureate head of Jupiter on the right, a sceptre on the shoulder.
REVERSE :
Legend: L. RVBRI.
Translation: "Lucius Rubrius".
Description: Triumphal quadriga on the right, empty, a panel decorated with an eagle turned right on a thunderbolt and surmounted by a sceptre decorated with a victoriola.
HISTORY :
The Rubrii were members of a plebeian family, whose plebeian rank is derived from Rubrius, tribune of the people, whose law bears the name Lex Rubria.
