HISTORY :
This gold coin reminds us of the linked destinies of France and Italy after Napoleon accepted the Italian crown on 17 March 1805. He was officially crowned on 26 May 1805 by Cardinal Caprara. He subsequently appointed his son-in-law, Eugène de Beauharnais, viceroy of Italy and left Milan on 10 June 1805.
