The Sovereign coin is the best known coin in England: it is the alter ego of the 20 franc Napoleon.
The first series were minted by Henry VII of England. New, so-called modern, issues are still in progress.
Originally, no value was indicated on the coin, which has a face value of one pound sterling or 20 shillings.
