PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The latest addition to our bullion range takes its inspiration from hundreds of years of royal heraldry.
The Queen’s Beasts bullion coins not only provide a new option for those looking to invest, but the range also includes a two-ounce silver coin – the first time an official two-ounce United Kingdom bullion coin has been struck.

This magnificent series from the Royal Mint presents the ten heraldic beasts:
- the Lion of England
- the Griffin of Edward III
- the Red Dragon of Wales
- the Black Bull of Clarence
- the Falcon of the Plantagenets
- the Yale of Beaufort
- the White Lion Mortimer
- the White Horse of Hanover
- the Unicorn of Scotland.

These coins represent the genealogy of Queen Elizabeth II; it was these ten beasts that stood guard at the Queen’s coronation. Each of this Queen’s Beasts supports a badge of arms of a family associated with the ancestry of Queen Elizabeth II.

The coins will each depict one of the The Queen’s Beasts, reimagined by Royal Mint Coin Designer Jody Clark. Jody also created the latest definitive coinage portrait of The Queen to appear on United Kingdom coins.
His bold interpretations of the Lion of England will be the first coin to be released.

OBVERSE : The background for this range comes from the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen, where ten heraldic beasts stood guard, The Queen's Beasts, sculpted by James Woodford RA for the coronation ceremony.
REVERSE : The Black Bull is a "Yorkist" beast which came to The Queen through Edward IV, the first king of England from the House of York and one of the key players in the "Wars of the Roses".
The bull is one of the most English and "earthy" of the heraldic beasts, a strong symbol of pride and patriotism.
