The Perth Mint is Australia's leading precious metals refiner, accredited by the LBMA. Supported by the Government of Western Australia, the Perth Mint has produced the official bullion coin programme since 1987. It also produces a wide range of high-quality gold and silver bullion. 

Among its most coveted series is the Koala Australia 1 Kilo Silver. This is a highly esteemed collection of gold and silver coins produced by Australia's Perth Mint. First issued in 2007, the series features motifs of Australia's beloved marsupial, the koala, in its natural habitat.

Issued by the Perth Mint with an unlimited mintage, the Australia 1 Kilo Silver Koala coins are also struck in 0.9999 fine silver.

In addition to their weight and purity, Australian silver Koala coins boast superb annual artwork capturing the essence of these sleeping creatures. In 2023, the design reaches a new high point with an alluring portrait of the animal's family life in the gum tree canopy.

Features of the Australia 1 Kilo Silver Koala 

Representing one of Australia's most beloved animals, Australian silver coins in the shape of a koala pay tribute to our rich wildlife. Struck from 99.99% pure silver, the 2023 Koala is available in 1 kilo and 1 ounce sizes and features a brand new design on the reverse.

Each coin depicts a koala on a gum tree branch with a cub clinging to its back. Both designs feature the inscription 'KOALA', the Perth Mint mintmark 'P', and the coin's weight, purity and date.

In addition, the 2023 Koala Australia 1 Kilo Silver coin features a brand new design on both the reverse and obverse featuring the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

The coin also features a koala climbing a tree with a young "joey" clinging to its back for safety. In addition to the inscription 'KOALA' and the Perth Mint mintmark 'P', the coin's weight, purity and date appear on the reverse. 

 

VARIABLE VINTAGES

OBVERSE :

The obverse features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark and bearing the following inscription: "ELIZABETH II 1952-2022 AUSTRALIA - 30 DOLLARS". 

REVERSE :

The reverse features a koala on a gum tree branch designed by Ing Ing Jong and inscribed: "2023 1 KILO 9999 ARGENT KOALA".
