Reformed coinage on a half executive with the palms of Flanders of Louis XIV.
OBVERSE :
Description: Bust of Louis XIV right, cuirassed with the big wig.
Title : .LVD. XIIII. D. G. (SUN) - FR. ET. NAV. REX. (DOT UNDER THE X OF XIIII).
Translation: Louis XIV, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre.
REVERSE :
Description: Round crowned shield quartered in 1 of France, in 2 of modern Burgundy, in 3 of ancient Burgundy, in 4 of Navarre, broaching on a hand of justice and a sceptre fleurdelisé; below the letter of workshop.
Title: .(TREFLE) SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (MG) 1705..
Translation: Blessed be the name of the Lord.
HISTORY :
This coin was struck in reformation exclusively in 1704 and 1705. It is known only through this single copy with the year 1705, both years have been found. It is extremely rare, with less than 20 known examples. It was in the great French royal coin collections (Babut, Théry, Montalent...).
