HISTORY :
Gustav IV Adolphus reigned from 1792 until 1809. He acceded to the throne at the age of 13 when his father was assassinated. Gustav IV's foreign policy was marked by his hatred of the ideas of the French Revolution and of Napoleon Bonaparte in particular. It was under his leadership that Sweden joined the third coalition against the French Empire in 1805. He eventually abdicated in 1809 before dying in 1837 in St. Gallen.
