Commemorative coin for the Centenary of the Statue of Liberty (1986). The Statue of Liberty in New York was a gift from France to the United States in 1886, symbolising the friendship between the two countries.

OBVERSE :

Description: The bust of the Statue of Liberty, flown over by 11 birds.

Caption: 1886-1986 FRENCH REPUBLIC

REVERSE :

Description: A tree whose foliage bears the motto "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ" surmounted by a Phrygian cap.

This adaptation of a drawing by Michel Durand-Megret is crossed by a band bearing the face value, "100F".

The name of the engraver, Michel Durand-Megret, also appears.
