PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This new 'Beasts' series issued by The Royal Mint, official partner of Godot and Sons, focuses on the Tudor dynasty that ruled in the 15th and 16th centuries.
More about the Tudor Dynasty
The Tudor dynasty began in 1485 with the victory of Henry Tudor (Henry VII of England) over Richard III and lasted until the end of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603.
After the death of Henry VII and the death of his eldest son, Arthur, Henry VIII became king. His most famous residence was Hampton Court Palace, a place he used for feasting and pleasure and where heraldic symbols were very much in evidence.
OBVERSE :
The obverse of the coin features the profile of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark. Her Majesty is depicted wearing the George IV state diadem crown.
REVERSE :
On the reverse of the coin is a depiction of the Lion corresponding to the well-known statue at Hampton Court Palace. He wears the imperial crown and has been designed - like the 10 coins in the series - by David Lawrence, an illustrator and sculptor best known for his designs on the reverse of the Britannia coin in 2018 and 2019.
